Category data
Category data is gathered from the Council's own categorisation and is used to indicate the nature of purchases made by council staff. The categorisation is applied by the procurement team using data provided by the original purchaser. This data is therefore an interpretation of the nature of the goods or services purchased.
Service data
Service data represents the organisational units within the council and is derived from the budget codes used by the council. In the event that a service is renamed or merged with another function, the new name will be deployed in our records and there will be no linkage between the actions of the old service and the newly named service.
Supplier data
Supplier data is a round up of the transactions with specific suppliers per annum. The data we retain on suppliers is linked to either Companies House records, Charities and Commission records or Care Quality Commission records wherever possible. There is no single record of identifiers for public entities and therefore we don't link to public buyers. We endeavour to create the correct link in every instance, however, we cannot always keep up the changes that take place in our suppliers (e.g. renaming of companies) and occasionally we may have mistakenly matched our records to the wrong entity, so please check the data for yourself before use.
Pipeline data
We have published our contract register, which lists the council’s contracts, purchase orders and grants (including grants to the voluntary sector). This data does not include details of invitation to tender for contracts as these are published individually in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) and/or on Contracts Finder as and when they are advertised. The data is taken from the procurement department’s records. The format is the one recommended in Annex I to Appendix A to Local transparency guidance – publishing spending and procurement information 4 December 2014 Version 1.1. More details on our contract register can be found here
Detailed data
We have compiled the last four years of detailed data, including categorisation, supplier linking and service data in each file. These files can be combined to create a complete record of our transactions over the last four years. Our monthly spending continues to be published here
